KINGSTON, Jamaica – Champion jockey Chris Mamdeen who has been having a rough time defending his crown, emerged from the doldrums when he piloted Basilicus to victory in the fifth race on the Caymanas Park Sunday (September 6) card.

In this four straight call for restricted allowance horses (three-year-olds), Basilicus trained by Gary Subratie flew out of her number two starting stall and immediately started to tack across the track ending on the outside rails.

It was an easy win for Basilicus as neither Casual Affair (Anthony Thomas) and Lord of Ajahlon (second and third respectively) provided no challenge.

Basilicus won by three lengths in a time of 45.4.
