KINGSTON, Jamaica – Baltusrol dropping down in the claiming ranks had to fight hard under champion jockey Anthony Thomas to win the first of nine races on the Sunday card of June 5, 2022.
Trained by Jason DaCosta, who has now won the last three races run at Caymanas Park, Baltusrol earned his eighth win from 36 starts, in a three-year-old and upwards Optional Claimer ($400,000 - $300,000) at 5 ½ furlongs.
When the starter pressed his button Baltusrol was not the best away with Thomas wisely deciding to bide his time as Pakman (Calvin Bailey) set the early fractions followed by Mr Lyndhurst (Reyan Lewis).
Slowly but surely, Baltusrol weaved his way through the pack and was in full flight with a furlong to go getting by Mr Lyndhurst in second place with Pakman third.
