KINGSTON, Jamaica – Reigning Horse of the Year, Atomica, is reported to be in good condition after her jockey, Dane Dawkins, fell during the Mouttet Mile on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Caymanas Park.

Don Wehby, owner of the four-year-old filly from Oakridge Farms, informed Quickgallop.com that initial assessments indicate Atomica is unharmed.

"I just left the stables, and based on initial evaluations, Atomica appears to be fine. There are a few minor bruises on her back leg, but we'll have a clearer understanding of her status tomorrow (Sun, Dec 3) and throughout the week. It seems that she took a misstep during the race, causing Dawkins' fall," Wehby shared.

Regarding Atomica's racing future, Wehby stated that no decisions have been made yet. "At this time, I can only confirm that we will assess her ability to continue racing and make a decision soon," said Wehby.
