The ninth and final event on the race card of Saturday, January 3, 2026, is the Security Department Trophy, an Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over 5 furlongs straight.
The Quick Galloper analyses of the eleven nominated starters and their chances of winning this trophy event.
1 – LABAN
Laban now at the age of nine years has little more to give especially against younger, more vibrant rivals. Plus drawn at one coming down the straight is not the best option.
2 - CHAMPION BUBBLER
Was a complete non-entity in the recent Mouttet Mile (December 6, 2025). She now returns to compete against more suitable rivals, and has a love for the straight course. Champion Bubbler will find it difficult coming from the number two barrier.
3 - MAJOR DANGER
Major Danger is without a win from ten starts in 2025. That situation is not about to change soon.
4 - A GIFT FROM BEN
Has found it difficult in 2025, as from 10 starts, she has failed to hit the board. No change is expected even with the figure eight and cheek pieces taken off.
5 - DIVINE FORCE
Can be disregarded.
6 - ANOTHER ONE
Most of Another One’s five wins to date have been achieved over the five straight course. He won at this distance 20 days ago, clocking a fast 58.3 seconds. At the peak of his career, is young and fresh, and racing in mid-pack is ideal.
7 - SMART TRICK
Racing in Overnight for the first time; needs time.
8 - NORBLAR
Norblar was third behind Mighty Gully at this distance. Expect him to run well again.
9 - ZULU WARRIOR
Zulu Warrior has been consistent, finishing second in his last two starts. He should be right at home at this distance and will make a brave bid for top honours.
10 - COOKIE DAY N NIGHT
Cookie Day N Night has not found the winners’ enclosure in a long while. Yet he has been delivering some consistent performances. Drawn on the outside will aid the cause of Cookie Day N Night especially with the visor taken off.
11 - FORTUNA BELLE
Fortuna Belle finished third on debut behind California Crown at 5 1/2 furlongs on November 29, 2025. She has worked well coming into this one and, given her pedigree and form, she could lead the field home.
