KINGSTON, Jamaica – Following the anticipated victories in the 1000 Guineas by Atomica and Blue Vinyl in the 2000 Guineas, the odds-makers at QUICKGALLOP.COM have installed Atomica as the 1-2 odds-on morning line favourite for the next jewel in the Triple Crown series, the Jamaica St Leger. The Jamaica St Leger will be contested over ten furlongs on Saturday, July 2, 2022.
Blue Vinyl, is being offered at 6-5 by the odds-makers, with the position of third on the morning line list proving to be a difficult task. After careful consideration, the odds-makers are offering Brinks and Our Angel at 35-1 each as the third in line behind Atomica and Blue Vinyl.
In making Atomica, the 1-2 favourite, the odds-makers paid attention to the time recorded by the filly of 1:37.0 (one mile) compared with the 1:37.4 clocked by Blue Vinyl in their respective Guineas races.
In addition, the odds-makers noted that separate from the better time produced by Atomica in the Guineas, she will be the recipient of a 5-pound sex allowance in the St Leger, which they believe will further assist in negating the customary male advantage especially at the three-year-old level. Further, the odds-makers referred to the faster surface on Sunday when Blue Vinyl won his Guineas, noting, especially the time of 1:06.0 done by Artesia at the four-year-old non-four level.
The St Leger morning line odds are listed below.

  1. Atomics splits are much slower than blue vinyl tho but she is a very good filly the better stayer shall win that race is an endurance race totally different circumstances

  2. very interesting as the plot thickens in the up coming classics.. the st ledger and derby are the true test of champions . i do expect small fields for both races because of the two top rankings.
