The sixth staging of the final prep race before the start of the Classic races, The Kingston Stakes is scheduled to be contested on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

The Kingston is designated for three-year-old colts and gelding going a trip of 7 ½ furlongs.

Ten horses have been entered in The Kingston, with The Quick Galloper’s take on the possible outcome shared below.

1 – BIGGER BOSS

A model of consistency, finishing no worse than fourth across five career starts. His running style suggests he can stretch out to 7 ½ furlongs without issue. However, his two encounters with We Jammin ended in decisive defeats, showing he lacks the class edge to topple the favourite. Still, his reliability makes him a strong inclusion for exotic wagers like trifectas and superfectas.

2 – WE JAMMIN

The undisputed star of the three-year-old division. Three wins from four starts, with his only defeat coming against foreign opposition. His commanding victory in the Prince Consort Stakes over 7 furlongs highlighted his blend of early speed and acceleration. He is the only horse in this field with three wins, and his ability to dictate pace while carrying weight sets him apart. Difficult to envision him being beaten here.

3 – FERNANDO

Returned from a layoff in the Prince Consort Stakes, finishing fifth, 9 ¼ lengths behind We Jammin. That effort looked like a prep run, but he will need dramatic improvement to contend over 7 ½ furlongs. At present, he appears outclassed.

4 – DASHALLDAY

Ran a brave second in the Prince Consort, finishing 5 ¼ lengths behind We Jammin. His trainer has added a figure-eight, which may help him settle and finish stronger. While he is consistent and capable of another solid effort, yet the gap between him and the favourite remains significant.

5 – GOD’S PLAN

Won early as a juvenile but has failed to deliver in five subsequent starts. His form suggests sprinting is his true calling, and stretching out to 7 ½ furlongs will likely expose his limitations. Hard to recommend.

6 – SENOR BISCOTTI

Experienced campaigner with eight starts, including three defeats to We Jammin. Comes into this race off a confidence-boosting win on April 26, showing signs of progress. He handles the trip well and could emerge as a challenger for minor placings.

 7 – LONDON SPIRIT

The most seasoned runner with nine starts. Showed flashes of ability early but has plateaued since. His trainer removes the visor this time, hoping to spark improvement.

8 – STARDOM

Debut winner in December 2026 but has struggled to make an impact since. Trainer removes the tongue tie, which may help him breathe and settle better. While unlikely to threaten the top tier, he could sneak into the minor placings if things fall his way.

9 – THE MAESTRO

Well-bred colt who broke his maiden 28 days ago over the Kingston distance of 7 ½ furlongs. Though the opposition was modest, he is improving at the right time and has scope to progress further. A respectable run is expected, and he could surprise by grabbing a share of the minor money.

10 – SALUTE THE DON

Explosive winner of the 6-furlong Sir Howard Stakes in March, scoring by eight lengths. However, when stretched to 7 furlongs in the Prince Consort, he was easily dismissed by We Jammin. His record strongly suggests sprinting is his forte, and the extra half-furlong here will likely prove beyond him.

SUMMARY

This Kingston field is defined by one horse: We Jammin. His dominance in the Prince Consort Stakes and overall record make him the banker of the race. He combines tactical speed with a powerful finishing kick, and none of his rivals have shown the ability to match him.

The supporting cast is led by Dashallday, who chased him home last time, and Senor Biscotti, who enters off a win and has the stamina to stay competitive. Bigger Boss is consistent and dependable for exotic wagers, while The Maestro is an improving type who could surprise with a respectable finish.

Others like God’s Plan and Salute The Don appear better suited to sprinting, while London Spirit and Stardom need equipment changes to spark revival.
