The ninth race on Saturday, January 10, 2026, is restricted to native-bred four-year-olds and upward who are non-winners of three races, and to foreigners four-year-olds and upward who are non-winners of two races. Seven runners are entered to compete over seven furlongs. The Quick Galloper’s evaluation of each starter, listed in post-position order, is as follows:
1 – BOSS MAN
This bay colt has been consistently in the frame at this level. The seven-furlong trip is right up his alley, and he must be regarded as a genuine contender.
2 – STAR QUEST
At present, Star Quest is simply not equipped to handle rivals of this calibre.
3 – AMERICAN AVIATOR
This foreigner has twice filled the runner-up spot in his last two races at seven and seven-and-a-half furlongs. He prefers to set the pace, though the question remains whether he can see out the full distance strongly.
4 – PRETTY BROWN TING
Steps up to the non-winners of three category after securing her second career victory on December 26, 2025. She may need more time before proving competitive at this level.
5 – THOUSAND TREASURES
Finally broke through on January 1, 2026, after 16 attempts. With only one win to his name, Thousand Treasures cannot be considered a serious threat in this contest.
6 – PRINCE ROY
Since his second career win on October 4, 2025, Prince Roy has failed to make an impression in six subsequent starts. That lack of form is expected to continue here.
7 – LOCKDOWN
Closed well to finish third over six furlongs last time. The extra furlong should suit, but his tendency to break poorly remains a major obstacle to success.
THE QUICK GALLOPER’S VERDICT
The seven-furlong trip is going to be decisive. Boss Man has been consistent at this level and looks set to run another solid race. American Aviator has shown speed and determination but still has questions to answer about stamina. Lockdown is improving and will relish the extra furlong, though his poor starts remain a concern.
The others—Star Quest, Pretty Brown Ting, Thousand Treasures, and Prince Roy—do not inspire confidence at this stage.
