Despite Impasse In Industry, Horses Continue To Prepare

KINGSTON, Jamaica – While the purse increase negotiations involving the promoting company (SVREL) and the various associations continue without an end in sight, horses and their various connections continue to be present in the mornings to perform their designated exercise routines.

On the two major galloping mornings (Saturdays, and Sundays), there was an intensification of horses actually galloping.

On Saturday, July 22, and Sunday, July 23, according to the figures provided by the official clockers, over 250 horses were on the track with at least half of the listed amount actually galloping.

Striking the eyes of the clockers, not including the three-year-olds expected to participate in the upcoming Classic races, were Billy Whizz, Blue Vinyl, D Head Cornerstone, Green Gold Rush, I’ve Got Magic, Jordan Reign’s, I Am Fred, King Arthur, She’s My Destiny and Mahogany,

Blue Vinyl, a past Classic winner trained by Patrick Lynch galloped five furlongs in a time of 1:04.0. for five furlongs.

D Head Cornerstone galloped three furlongs in a time of 39.0 seconds. D Head Cornerstone is trained by Gary Subratie.

The much improved Green Gold Rush, now campaigning in Open Allowance, galloped six furlongs in a time of 1:18.4 seconds, with trainer Dalton Sirjue watching closely.

I’ve Got Magic, a Grade One campaigner conditioned by Philip Feanny galloped four furlongs in a time of 49.2 seconds.

Jordon Reign’s, who has not raced in a while, seems to be on the uptick having galloped three furlongs in 36.0 seconds. Jordon Reign’s is trained by Peter-John Parsard.

Mahogany is considered to be one of the top two horses currently in training. The Ian Parsard trainee galloped seven furlongs in a time of 1:36.3.

Over the two days under consideration, the champion and current leading trainer Jason DaCosta had many of his charges galloping.

Billy Whizz galloped four furlongs down the straight in a time of 48.2 seconds.

I Am Fred, by far the top of the Grade One pile, galloped four furlongs down the straight in 48.0 seconds.

King Arthur, a former winner of the Jamaica Derby, galloped five and a half furlongs, clocking 1:08.4.

She’s My Destiny, known nowadays as the flying filly, galloped five furlongs in a time of 59.4 seconds.
