KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Simply Magic Cup is listed as the ninth of ten races on the Saturday card of April 22, 2023.

This trophy race is for local three-year-olds at the non-winners of two level, and also imported three-year-old maidens. The distance of the Simply Magic is one mile or 1,600 metres.

The Quick Galloper’s assesses the nine horses nominated to race in post-position order.

1 – ARIA’S REIGN is a dark bay filly (April 6) by Resurgence out of Nuclear Warning trained by Steven Todd with Jordan Barrett aboard. Enters this grade for the first time since breaking her maiden on April 8. That was a fillies only contest, now matched against better of her sex and the colts and geldings, Aria’s Reign will have to wait.

2 – RHYTHM BUZZ is a bay colt (February 16) by Buzz Nightmare out of River Rhythm trained by Vincent Atkinson with Anthony Thomas aboard. Note, Rhythm Buzz races with tongue tie off. He has caught the eyes of onlookers in the mornings since earning his first win on March 19. One mile suits Rhythm Buzz to the hilt, and although racing against non-winners of two for the first occasion, he has every chance of winning.

3 – BURNING VALOR is a bay colt (February 16) by Silent Valor out of Burning Clearance trained by Carl Anderson with Ameth Robles aboard. Came out of the Prince Consort Stakes (seven furlongs) with an earning cheque, although way behind the winner. Burning Valor enters the Simply Magic after looking good at exercise, he is going to be a determining factor in this one.

4 – SECRET ADMIRAL is a chestnut colt (February 12) by Admiral Alex out of Secret Cat trained by Carl Anderson with Javaniel Patterson in the saddle. Was a complete no show in the Prince Consort Stakes on April 9, 2023, this after another flat effort following a noticeable victory on debut. There is still hope for this son of Admiral Alex, and he is given another chance to make good on Saturday. Note, Secret Admiral races with both the visor and figure eight off.

5 – MODERN MIRACLE is a chestnut colt (January 2) by Hedge Fund out of Sound of Miracle trained by Anthony Nunes with Youville Pinnock holding the reins. Rattled many feathers when upsetting at odds 20-1 when last at the races (April 1). A place on the board is the best option for Modern Miracle.

6 – ALL FOR LOVE is a chestnut filly (February 1) by Nuclear Wayne out of Princess Sallema trained by Gary Subratie with Dane Dawkins aboard. A lot was anticipated from this filly in the Thornbird Stakes (seven furlongs), she did not deliver finishing way behind the winner. That was her first out of form effort and can therefore be excused. All For Love faces mostly colts again, yet she has enough firepower to handle them. All For Love will be hard to deny if fit and proper.

7 – WOW HOW is a bay filly (February 3) by Perfect Curlin out of Sarah Barracuda trained by Anthony Nunes with Tevin Foster in the saddle. The best option for this filly is a possible place in the top four.

8 – SHOW GIRL is a bay filly (April 9) by Northern Giant out of Thegirlnextdoor trained by Jason DaCosta with Reyan Lewis aboard. Show Girl does not have even an outsider’s chance of winning.

9 – SISTER D is a dark bay filly (USA May 2) by Brethren out of Invidia trained Gary Subratie with Omar Walker in the saddle. The lone foreigner in this one, who has yet to really sink in her hoofs properly in local soil as yet.
