KINGSTON, Jamaica – The fifth race on Saturday, April 22, 2023, should rightly be renamed The Force Trophy, as three of the six horses nominated to run all have the same last nomenclature, and that is, ‘Force’. These are Divine Force, Inspire Force, and Platinum Force.
This fifth race is for three and four-year-olds non-winners of four, and also for imported three-year-olds, non-winners of three.
The Quick Galloper’s analysis is provided below for this 6 ½ furlong contest.
1 – DIVINE FORCE is a three-year-old bay colt (USA February 11) by Alternation out of Dance America trained by Philip Feanny with Anthony Thomas in the saddle. This foreigner is seeking three wins for three consecutive starts ranging from five furlongs straight to seven furlongs. The distance of this event is perfectly suited for Divine Force, with his true running-on style coming to fore in the final furlong.
2 – MAJOR DANGER is a three-year-old bay colt (USA May 25) by Majestic City out of Clean Eleven trained by Anthony Dixon with Javaniel Patterson aboard. Has already been dealt with by Inspire Force, and although gaining in the handicaps when compared with Inspire Danger, no change is expected, plus the latter is better off with the distance. Major Danger is the only maiden contender in this race. Note, Major Danger races with the blinkers on, and the tongue tie on.
3 – GILBERT is a four-year-old chestnut colt (USA) by Jack Milton out of Causin A Storm trained by Philip Feanny with Shane Richardson aboard. Gilbert got close to Divine Force coming down the five-straight course, running on. Cannot be disregarded from consideration.
4 – INSPIRE FORCE is a three-year-old chestnut colt (USA) by Union Jackson out of Exotic Design trained by Philip Feanny with Omar Walker aboard. After being slow out of the gates, followed by a devastating burst in the lane, Inspire Force got off the mark from his fourth start. Now, he races in non-two (three) for the first time, and will have to wait especially with his stablemate, Divine Force, a winner of three races in the line-up.
5 – PLATINUM FORCE is a three-year-old bay colt (USA March 30) by Guilt Strip out of Catherine’s Guilt trained by Philip Feanny with Reyan Lewis aboard. Probably the least of the ‘Force’ trio. In his five outings to date, Platinum Force was crudely dealt with by multiple winner and stablemate Divine Force, already beaten twice by the latter. That trend will continue on Saturday.
6 – DUROCELL is a three-year-old chestnut (April 17) by Soul Warrior out of Savanna’s Smile trained by Patrick Fong with Bebeto Harvey in the saddle. Durocell is the only filly and the only locally bred-participant in this contest. As such, Durocell is given a spot on the board. Note, Durocell races with the figure eight on.
