AFTER EQUIPMENT CHANGE SNOWFLAKES IS A WINNER

Running with the tongue tie on, Snowflakes was just able to get her head in front on the line in a four-year-old and upwards (non-winners of three) call at 5 furlongs (1,000m) round.

Snowflakes broke with the leaders, but she was taken off the early splits by jockey Samantha Fletcher, as Simba The Lion (Dane Dawkins) and Chandra’s Law (Anthony Thomas) were locked in a fierce battle for the lead.

With both Simba The Lion and Chandra’s Law going wide entering the lane, Snowflakes kept to the inside of runners in deep stretch and surged to the front with a furlong and a half (300m) to go.

In the final stages of the race, Chandra’s Law came with a strong challenge, but the Colin Ferguson-trained Snowflakes held on in the end to win by a neck. Big Argument (Paul Francis) finished three-quarters of a length behind in third place. The final time for the race was 1:01.4.

JNR JONES GOES ONE BETTER

After finishing a length second to Silverstine on December 26, 2022 (5 ½ furlongs), JNR Jones returned and went one better in a five-year-old and upwards in a Claiming ($180,000-$150,000) spread going six furlongs (1,200m).

Jockey Dane Dawkins settled the Michael Marlowe-trained JNR Jones in third place after the gates opened, watching as Matriarch (Anthony Thomas) and Crushing Power, the mount of Jordan Barrett. Dawkins let loose the notch on JNR Jones to get by horses going into the half-mile turn before increasing the gallop approaching the distance.

Turning for home with no real challengers, JNR Jones went about his merry way to score a 3-length win at the line in a time of 1:194. Finishing second was Wreckless Diamond (Roger Hewitt) with Crushing Power third.

WITH THE VISOR OFF, AND BLINKERS ON, POSING ALREADY SHEDS MAIDEN TAG

Three-year-old bay colt Posing Already easily defeated rivals in Division 1 of a three-year-old Maiden Condition call going 5 furlongs (1,000 metres) straight after returning with the visor removed and blinkers on.

Trained by Robert Pearson and ridden by Shane Ellis, Posing Already broke off well at the start and held a slim lead ahead of Risky Bid (Matthew Bennett), Solid Truth (Andre Powell), General Chief (Reyan Lewis), and Babylon Will Fall (Anthony Thomas).

Posing Already then went away from rivals crossing the dummy rails. The Northern Giant offspring went on to win by 3 lengths ahead of General Chief and Babylon Will Fall. The final time for the event was 1:00.2.

MUZZO IN ONE SHAKE

Trained by Spencer Chung and ridden by Aaron Chatrie, Muzzo made all the running in Division 2 of a Maiden Condition event coming down the 5 furlongs straight.

At the off, Muzzo went to the front and held the lead ahead of Select Me (Dane Dawkins), Salud (Christopher Mamdeen), and Blue Sky (Roger Hewitt). Muzzo stayed with the field for the first half of the race and began to draw away crossing the dummy rails as Rhosa The Warrior (Chalrick Budhai), Salud, King Air (Omar Walker), and Asurety (Bebeto Harvey) chased.

Muzzo was clear inside the final furlong (200m) and cruised home on the bit to win by 6 3/4 lengths. Rhosa The Warrior was second and Salud third in a final time of 1:02.0.
