JOYFUL GETS OFF THE MARK
Four-year-old chestnut filly Joyful (Lion Tamer – River Styx), after three starts, released the maiden tag in a native-bred four-year-old and upwards condition event travelling four furlongs (800m).
Trained by Patrick Lynch and ridden by Raddesh Roman, Joyful showed good speed at the off along with Dotlin (Odeen Edwards) and Blue Seas (Shane Ellis).
Coming across the dummy rails and looking more settled, Joyful then drew off to win by six lengths. Blue Seas finished second and Dotlin third. The final time was 48.1 seconds.
KINGSLEY DAVIS EARNS FIRST WIN IN 2022
Trainer Kingsley Davis saddled his first winner for the season when Out On A Limb won a three-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($400,000 - $300,000) event going 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m).
Jockey Andre Powell broke Out On A Limb in second place behind Thunderstrike (Anthony Thomas) but quickly assumed the lead, leaving the five-furlong marker and never looked back.
Out On A Limb opened on rivals navigating the half-mile turn before putting the field to rest with a crippling run in deep stretch to win by 5 ¼ lengths.
Miss Linda Wray (Nicholas Hibbert) finished second and Thunderstrike third. The final time was recorded at 1:22.2.
PURE HEART MAKES ONE MOVE
Pure Heart led from the first jump in a dominating run to win a Claiming ($180,000 - $150,000) spread for five-year-olds and upwards at six furlongs (1,200m).
As the gates opened, Pure Heart immediately gained the ascendency under the guidance of Youville Pinnock. The Dennis Pryce trainee led ahead of Sacrifice (Shane Richardson) and Nasdaq Princess (Javaniel Patterson).
Approaching the home bend and into the drive, Pure Heart upped the ante by powering away from rivals to win by 12 ½ lengths in a time of 1:18.0. Colt of Arms (Oshane Nugent) finished second and Powerful Red (Robert Halledeen) third.
CHANGE OF EQUIPMENT MAKES ALEXA’S DREAM A WINNER
Running with the cheekpieces off and with the blinkers and figure 8 on, the Gary Subratie-trained Alexa’s Dream made light work of rivals in a four-year-old and upwards (non-winners of two race) call going six furlongs.
With Javaniel Patterson in the saddle as a replacement for Dane Dawkins, Alexa’s Dream set off at a merry clip, holding the lead ahead of Artesia (Youville Pinnock) and Aphelios (Raddesh Roman). Alexa’s Dream continued on a tight hold until approaching the distance when she began to extend her lead. In deep stretch, Alexa’s Dream kept her gallop well, winning by 4 ¾ lengths ahead of Artesia and Oldkingcole (Robert Halledeen). The final time was 1:13.2.

In the first race, Gary Crawford claimed winner Commissioner for owner Paul Swaby from Lincoln Lungs; Donovan Plummer claimed Blu Attitude for owner Winston Lewis from Henry Harrison Jr; Junior Panton claimed Queen Deftiny for owner Derrick Satchell from Plummer; Phillip Lee claimed Big Dream for owner Leroy Tomlinson from Junior Small; and Fitzgerald Richards claimed Mamacita for owner Libran Connection from Phillip Lee. All horses from the first event were claimed for $250,000 each.
Andrew McDonald claimed Sparklin Tradition for himself for $400,000 from Carl Anderson; Paul Hylton claimed Sir Puddington for owner Joseph Landell for $400,000 from Ralph Roberts; and Steven Todd claimed Bruce Wayne for owner Akim Mahadiow, also for $400,000 from the third race.
In the fifth race, Patrick Fong claimed Lady Budget for owner Somora Clarke for $180,000 from Cashbert Khwalsingh, while Raymond Townsend claimed winner Pure Heart for himself for $180,000 from Dennis Pryce.
