KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Shane Ellis on his first ride since serving his five race day suspension and having to pay a $75,000 fine, came home a winner on 9-1 chance Beach Boy in the second race at Caymanas Park moments ago.
Trained by Al Brown, Beach Boy was victorious in a Restricted Allowance contest for four-year-olds and upwards non-winners of three travelling 6 ½ furlongs.
The race turned out to be a duel between Beach Boy and Reggae Gone Grammy (Anthony Thomas). The two were locked in battle for the entire stretch run as the two riders, Ellis and Thomas were not giving an inch.
Reggae Gone Grammy was the leader with a furlong to go but somehow Ellis conjured a final burst from Beach to win by a neck. Case Closed (Chris Mamdeen) was third.
