KINGSTON, Jamaica – Gary Peart, Executive Chairman of Supreme Ventures Group, announced that the total purse for the 2024 Mouttet Mile has been increased to $250,000.
Peart disclosed the updated purse shortly after the conclusion of the 2023 Mouttet Mile, which took place this afternoon (Sat, Dec 2, 2023) at Caymanas Park. The race was won by Rough Entry, trained by Rohan Crichton and ridden by French jockey Julien Leparoux.
“The purse of this year’s (2023) Mouttet Mile as frequently advertised was US$150,000.
“Due to the overwhelming success of this year's event, which featured top-class racing along with glamour and glitz on the infield, members of the Mouttet family approached and indicated that they would be raising the total purse for the 2024 Mouttet Mile from its current US$150,000 to US$250,000.
“That as anyone can see is a huge investment in our horse racing product, and a statement of the progress we have been making over the last three or so year,” Peart told Quickgallop.com.

Ditto.. Yes, the ambiance NEEDS MAJOR improvements… I understand the funds had to be directed at some of the structural issues, however the fans have been patient and LOYAL.. the stands, tvs upstairs, seating and basics amenities MUST be addressed. And, please try and retain, at least some of the core workers with a little better PAY. Thank you Solomon and the team!

Great news, however over the years I can't help but wonder if the powers that be has seriously even considered what value adding a turf surface to the infield of that massive oval we have at our disposal. It is mind boggling just to think of the possibilities that would be opened to the racing product. Hopefully this can be put on the table some day , rather sooner than later.
