Wow Wow starts 2020 with good win – as Michros finishes 1-2-3

KINGSTON, Jamaica – It was not as easy as expected in his first run for this year after eight victories as a juvenile in 2019 but for Wow Wow it was more than sufficient to further cement his status as the odds-on favourite for the upcoming Classic races.

Surprisingly, the regular rider on Wow Wow, Ameth Robles kept the bay colt off the pace set in blistering fashion by She’s A Hit (Trevor Simpson – 9-1).

After being behind by more than four to five lengths in the 6 ½ furlong contest, Robles started to move Wow Wow to challenge with Nipster (Anthony Thomas – 4-1) perkily nipping at the heels of Wow Wow.

In the last two furlongs, She’s A Hit was still in front, but Wow Wow probably for the first time was not in front at this stage of his victories. He then started to get going but Nipster was not making it easy. In fact, with about a furlong to go, it looked, as if Nipster went in front.

Wow Wow then showed his class and pulled away for a two length win over Nipster with Another Affair (Dane Dawkins – 30-1) third.

The winning time was 1:18.2. Interesting to note that Wow Wow on October 5, 2019 won over today’s distance in a time of 1:19.0.

The first three horses in this race are owned by champion owner Michros.

This was Wow Wow’s ninth consecutive victory.
