KINGSTON, Jamaica – Winx Choice took advantage of wet underfoot conditions to create a searing upset at 20-1 in the Caymanas Saturday (August 21) first.
Winx Choice, trained by Steven Todd with the little used Ruja Lahoe in the saddle was winning for the fourth occasion from 37 career starts. This fourth win by Winx Choice was achieved in a three-year-old and upwards claiming contest ($550,000 - $500,000) going 7 ½ furlongs.
From the starter pushed his button, Winx Choice vied for the lead with A Seh Soul (Jordan Barrett), with Lahoe deciding to allow A Seh Soul to set the splits, settling comfortably in second place.
They entered the straight for the last two furlongs with A She Soup still with the lead as Winx Choice moved closer.
After a brief skirmish, Lahoe and Winx Choice took over for the win. A Seh Soup was second and Stallwalkin’girl (Samantha Fletcher) third.
