KINGSTON, Jamaica – The second race of six on Saturday, July 22, 2023, is a three-year-old maiden call for horses who have not earned more than $280,000 in their careers.

Eight horses are entered for this 5 ½ furlong event.

The Quick Galloper’s analysis is provided below for readers.

1 – LITTLE MISS NISHA is a chestnut filly (April 19) by Traditional out of Simply Classic, trained by Winston Morris with Ramon Nepare on board. In her five career starts to date, Little Miss Nisha has not done anything of worth. Nothing is expected in this one.

2 – THE BEES KNEES is a bay filly (January 26) by Savoy Stomp out of Awesome Sauce, trained by Richard Azan with Bebeto Harvey in the saddle. Was disappointing in her last run, finishing sixth on June 25, going five furlongs straight. Will have to come up with a much-improved effort to win here.

3 – GREY COMMANDER is a grey colt (March 30) by Valiant Minister out of Uncle Tammy, trained by Donovan Hutchinson with Daniel Thompson aboard.  Coming along well with some decent results in his last two races. Grey Commander is going to benefit from the reduction in weight from the claiming apprentice. One to watch carefully.

4 – PRINCESS AKILAH is a bay filly (February 27) by Nasheet out of Princess Lorna, trained by Anthony Nunes with Matthew Bennett in the saddle. Still learning her trade.

5 – LADY RAMDULARIE is a chestnut filly (May 5) by Midnight Hawk out of Lady Najariya, trained by Howard Jaghai with Jerome Innis aboard. Note, Lady Ramdularie races with the blinkers on, and the tongue tie off. Will get there with time.

6 – NOISY LADY is a bay filly (May 10) by Savoy Stomp out of Raise Your Voice, trained by Donovan Hutchinson with Devon A Thomas in the saddle. Has not shown anything in her 10 starts to indicate that a winning run is at hand.

7 – NEWLAND LINKS is a bay colt (May 19) by Admiral Alex out of Empress Nicole, trained by Jason DaCosta, with Reyan Lewis aboard. Has finished third in his last two starts with 5 ½ furlongs just right. Should be part of the exacta.

8 – MANOUSHE is a grey colt (April 18) by Spieth out of Regency, trained by Richard Azan with Jawara Steadman in the saddle. Started his career with two third-place finishes, then went completely off the boil on last over 9 ½ furlongs. Returns to a distance to which he is better suited, to chance his chance of winning.
