The second race on Saturday, November 29, is the Garot Luxury Store event for two-year-old maidens covering 5 ½ furlongs.
Eight horses were initially entered, but Dillsbury, listed as horse number two, has been officially ruled ineligible.
The Quick Galloper’s review of the likely outcome of this juvenile contest is presented below in post-position order.
1 - MO PAI
A bay colt (April 25) by Savoy Stomp out of Money Magnet, trained by Richard Azan with Tevin Foster aboard. Money Magnet is also the dam of Hazelnut. Mo Pai has been showing good movement in morning exercise, developing steadily. In this open race, he cannot be overlooked. Will race with the figure eight on.
2 - DILLSBURY
Dillsbury has been declared a late non-starter.
3 - LONDON SPIRIT
A bay colt (February 6) by Bern Identity out of Blufield, trained by Jason DaCosta with Robert Halledeen in the saddle. Blufield has produced Princess Izzy, Bern Notice, Blue Vinyl, Power From Above, and Amma. London Spirit has impressed at exercise, moving smoothly with two three-furlong gallops timed at 36.4 seconds and 36.3 respectively. A definite contender on debut.
4 - THE CHEF MASTER
A bay colt (March 17) by Here Comes Ben out of Dancing Riddim, trained by Edward Stanberry with Jermaine Lewis riding. Dancing Riddim has produced Don Tudor, EJ Makit, Miss Elaine, and Lion’s Den. The Chef Master races with visor off, tongue tie on, and first-time Lasix. His lone start was disappointing, finishing sixth, 24 lengths behind. Improvement is not anticipated.
5 - WAH A GWAAN
A bay colt (February 13) by Aveenu Malcainu out of She’s Irie, trained by Christopher Pierre with Clive Lynch aboard. Wah A Gwaan races with visor on. He is the most experienced of the seven starters. In his second race (November 16), he led for much of the way before fading in the final furlong of six. With the shorter trip this time, Wah A Gwaan is a strong candidate for all wagers.
6 - FOR MY LOVE
A bay filly (March 21) by Sensational Slam out of For Trixie, trained by Anthony Nunes with Linton Steadman riding. For Trixie has produced Laban, Colorado Ranger, and Tuts. For My Love has shown progress in morning gallops, covering five furlongs on November 22 in 1:04.0, with the last four furlongs in 49.0 seconds. She looks ready for a solid performance.
7 - BLOOD DIAMOND
A bay filly (April 21) by Conquest Cherimash out of Working Carol K, trained by Al Brown with Christopher Mamdeen aboard. Blood Diamond makes her debut. With time, she is expected to reach winning form.
8 - DARWIN
A bay colt (February 27) by Casual Trick out of Cape, trained by Richard Azan with Tajay Suckoo riding. Cape has produced Hansa. Darwin has one race under his belt, and that experience is his main advantage as he continues to improve.
QUICK GALLOPER’S VERDICT
This juvenile race is wide open with several showing promise. London Spirit and For My Love appear ready to deliver strong efforts, Wah A Gwaan brings valuable experience, while Darwin’s prior run can count. Expect a competitive finish among these four.
