KINGSTON, Jamaica - The five Classic races for three-year-olds (1000 Guineas, 2000 Guineas, Jamaica St. Leger, Jamaica Oaks, and the Jamaica Derby) have concluded.

Mamma Mia won the 1000 Guineas at a mile and the Jamaica Oaks at 10 furlongs, Mojito claimed victory in the 2000 Guineas at a mile, Thalita took the Jamaica St Leger at 10 furlongs, and Ability emerged victorious in the Jamaica Derby at 12 furlongs.

The question now is which of these Classic winners can be deemed the best among the three-year-olds?

Mamma Mia deserves special mention for her two Classic wins; however, her victories occurred in races exclusive to her gender. Her connections opted to race her in the Oaks over the Derby and she was absent from the St Leger.

Mojito entered his three-year-old career as the champion two-year-old and showcased his best performance in the 2000 Guineas.

Though he disappointingly underperformed in the St Leger, he made a bold front-running effort in the Derby, proving that this talented horse should not be disregarded for future success.

Thalita's capabilities are difficult to assess. After being defeated by Mamma Mia in the 1000 Guineas, racing pundits concluded she could not cover a great distance. However, her performance in the St Leger dismissed those doubts but her effort in the Derby was subpar.

Derby winner Ability is also challenging to evaluate moving forward. Despite his victory coming as a surprise, he demonstrated exceptional prowess during his imperious run in that race – suggesting he would fare well in higher grades.

Determining which horse is currently the best among three-year-olds proves to be a tough conclusion to reach.

The Quick Galloper still favors Mojito despite rumors of health issues, with Ability not far behind for consideration.

  1. When it's this close with none appealing the one that earns the most money at the end of the year gets my vote

  2. Thalita is the best of this average crop of three year old. This despite the awful ride he received in the Derby. This horse can go any distance and if he was ridden right in the derby he would have won the race.

  3. It's wide open now we will have to wait for the Jamaica cup , Gold cup and mouttet mile for more clarification... congratulations Coco T , you owned a classic winner( Disability Charm) and now bred a Derby winner in Ability... interesting the top 3 Derby finishers were owned and and train by there trainers.. lesson - trainers start investing in yourself

  4. The trainers have been doing that a long time now who you think own 90 percent of the horses that race at the track a corrupt place like that 😂😂😂

  5. i think it will be close between Mojito and Thalita. If Mojito regains full fitness it will be close between him and Thalita if a more competent jockey rides Thalita.
