The 6-5 favourite Scandinavia—trained by Aidan O'Brien and ridden by Ryan Moore—secured his second consecutive Goodwood Cup, powering away to win by lengths. John and Thady Gosden’s Trawlerman held on for 2nd, while Rahiebb finished 3rd.
The race turned chaotic right out of the stalls when Amiloc unseated jockey Hector Crouch.
The loose Amiloc made his way to the front of the pack. Approaching the 3-furlong pole, Amiloc veered across the track directly into the path of Trawlerman, forcing jockey William Buick to check his mount and lose crucial momentum.
Ryan Moore kept Scandinavia clear of the interference on the outside, allowing the star stayer to accelerate away down the home stretch.
