KINGSTON, Jamaica – The first non-winners of two event for two-year-olds this season takes place this Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Caymanas Park.
Six juveniles will race over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100 metres) for the Princess Popstar trophy.
On the Overnight programme, this event listed as the fifth is subject to change when the final programme is made available later today (Wednesday, October 5, 2022).
THE QUICK GALLOPER’s analysis of the six starters on the Overnight card is offered below.
1 – THALITA is a chestnut filly (February 26) by Soul Warrior out of Luminious Trieste trained by Jason DaCosta with Anthony Thomas aboard. This is Thalita’s third start. She was a convincing winner going five furlongs in a fast time for juveniles of 1:00.2, second time out. Since that winning effort 28 days ago, Thalita has been seen making noticeable strides at morning exercise. She has a real opportunity of achieving win number two.
2 – SISTREN TREASURE (USA) is a bay filly (March 5) by Brethren out of Katira trained by Gary Subratie with Dane Dawkins in the saddle. Made a winning debut just seven days ago, to become the first two-year-old to win going longer than five furlongs. Sistren Treasure was slowly out when the gates opened, then found her stride in the straight to get home by 5 ½ lengths in a respectable time of 1:07.1. With the trip increased and with Sistren Treasure giving the first impression that she prefers to go longer, this filly has every chance of winning.
3 – SHE’S A MIRAGE is a bay filly (March 29) by Casual Trick out of Full Moon’s Enough trained by Jason DaCosta with Abigail Able aboard. Will learn. She’s A Mirage is the only maiden in this non-two call. Note, that She’s A Mirage races with the tongue tie on.
4 – LEGIT BOSS is a bay filly (February 20) by Casual Trick out of Bilingual trained by Anthony Nunes with Dick Cardenas aboard. Holds the distinction of winning the first two-year-old event this season over three furlongs. Since then (68 days), Legit Boss has been making progress in the mornings. Legit Boss will have a glorious chance of making it win number two.
5 – ROYAL ASH is a roan filly (February 24) by Fearless Vision out of Greek Goddess trained by Anthony Nunes with Reyan Lewis aboard. Came on strong when winning on debut 21 days ago at four furlongs, giving the impression that 5 ½ furlongs will not be an issue. Royal Ash has to be taken seriously.
6 – AWESOME ANTHONY is a chestnut colt (March 27) by Soul Warrior out of Antoinette trained by Patrick Taylor with Javaniel Patterson aboard. Awesome Anthony, the lone colt in this line-up who was an impressive winner at five furlongs round 14 days ago, clocking 1:00.1, a time faster by 1/5 of a second than the one done by Thalita. Awesome Anthony is in good nick and has to be taken seriously, plus the outside draw will aid his cause.
