KINGSTON, Jamaica – It took three race days but jockey Trevor “Slicer” Simpson got into the winners’ enclosure for the first time since his latest return from riding duties overseas when he brought home Kiah in the fourth of 10 races on the Saturday card at Caymanas Park.

Simpson held the Rowan Mathie trained Kiah to the back of the field in the 9 furlongs and 25 yards offering as Thunderstrike (Larris Allen) set the early fractions.

Thunderstrike did not last long on the lead as Super Stunner (Dane Dawkins) took over with four furlongs left in the contest. At this time, Simpson was bringing Kiah into a challenging position on the outside.

Super Stunner took the field into the stretch with Kiah being the only threat.

Simpson had to work hard on a stubborn Kiah and the pair was able to make a decisive move with half-a-furlong left in the race, winning in the end by half-a-length.

Super Stunner was second with the late rallying Velvet Moon third.

Kiah won at odds of 9-5 and was timed at 2:01.1 for the two-turn distance.
