Trainers of Blue Vinyl, Runaway Algo Pleased With Draw In Jamaica Cup

KINGSTON, Jamaica –The trainers for two of the leading contenders in the $6 million Jamaica Cup, set to run over 9.5 furlongs on Saturday, November 11, 2023, expressed satisfaction with their post positions.

Dale Murphy, the trainer for Runaway Algo - the only international participant among six entrants - was particularly pleased with drawing the number one barrier.

He stated that this starting position suits Runaway Algo's running style and anticipates a strong performance in the 9.5-furlong race.

Murphy also shared that Runaway Algo completed his last speed work on November 1 and is currently in high spirits as they eagerly await the competition on Saturday.

“Runaway Algo did his last speed work on Wednesday (November 1), timing 1:13.2 for six furlongs according to the official clockers.

“He is happy at the moment, and we await Saturday afternoon with anticipation,” Murphy said.

Similarly, Al Brown, the trainer for Blue Vinyl, is content with their horse being assigned the number two post-position.

He mentioned that Blue Vinyl successfully completed his last gallop and is currently in good form as they prepare for the Jamaica Cup.

With their horse feeling fit and happy, Brown expects an impressive effort in Saturday's race.

“The draw is ok for Blue Vinyl. At He had his last gallop, coming out in good nick. Right now, he is happy, and I am pleased with how he has prepared for the Jamaica Cup.

“Blue Vinyl is happy, he is fit and we expected a really good effort on Saturday,” Brown shared with Quickgallop.com.
