KINGSTON, Jamaica – The following is a press release from the Jamaica Racing Commission.

APPEAL – TRAINER RICHARD PHILLIPS vs. STEWARDS’ DECISION

On Tuesday 21st March, 2023 the Jamaica Racing Commission had a general investigation into a matter concerning Trainer Richard Phillips after having had his trainer’s license suspended for a period of one (1) month. This was in relation to the behavior displayed by Trainer Phillips before the Stewards on February 22, 2023 following the voiding of a claim he had submitted.

After hearing submissions made by Trainer Richard Phillips, who was also assisted by Trainer Bernard Vincent, along with submissions from the Jamaica Racing Commission’s Operations Steward, the Commission accepted Trainer Phillip’s plea for leniency but also ruled that a suspension of his Trainers license for a period of three (3) months be set as a suspended sentence which becomes automatic should any such similar incident occurs within the next three months.
