KINGSTON, Jamaica – Trainer Ian Parsard got off to an early start in 2019 as his six-year-old bay gelding Dragline ridden by apprentice Romario Spencer was able to take the seventh race a $450,000 - $400,000 claimer over five and a half furlongs a short while ago at Caymanas Park.
In a brave bid pasted on the inside rails, Spencer kept his nerves to drag back Prince Sammo and Loose Cannon to win by a length and a half and was claimed by trainer Tyrone Prince for owner Connecticut after 26 claims were submitted.
The odds were Dragline 8-5, Prince Sammo 8-1 and Loose Cannon at 3-2.
Dragline posted a winning time of 1:06.3 with recorded splits of 22.3 x 45.4.
