KINGSTON, Jamaica – Trainer Richard Azan says the change in racing equipment for his charge Mojito played a significant role in the grey colt's maiden win on Saturday, November 12, 2022.

"Well, he has improved because he ran two seconds and now he has won quite easily, and so he is heading in the right direction. We have changed equipment on him, and I think it [has] worked on him because he broke good at the start, and that has helped him. The plan now is to go forward with him," Azan said.

Azan said that Mojito will next run in the Supreme Ventures Limited Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes in December.

"At this stage, he is going well."

"He is still a little immature, and we will give him a break and race him again for the two-year-old race on December 26," Azan said.

Running with both the blinkers and tongue tie on, Mojito easily defeated rivals in the Betting, Gaming, and Lotteries Commission (BGLC)/TOBA Jamboree Sprint, a native-bred two-year-old maiden special weight contest over 6 furlongs (1,200m).

Mojito, ridden by Dane Dawkins, got a good start and settled in second place behind Acknowledgeme (Omar Walker) as the half-mile turn approached. Mojito then took command, approaching the distance, and once he hit the top of the lane, it was smooth sailing from there on.

Mojito cruised home to score by 6 1/2 lengths at the wire. Show Girl (Anthony Thomas) finished second and Uncharter (Robert Halledeen) came home in third place. Bred by Savoy Stomp out of Fiftyshadesofray, Mojito ran the distance in a time of 1:14.0.
