RACE SIX
$400,000 Claiming was the platform for a second career win by Manaco. As expected, several claims were in the box for Manaco, with the stables of trainer Randolph Scott the new home for Manaco. This was win number one on the card for both trainer Anthony Nunes and jockey Tevin Foster.
RACE SEVEN
The sunny afternoon suddenly changed after a sudden downpour of rain. The six runners in the seventh had to endure sloppy underfoot conditions plus the rain. The elements had no effect on the revival run by Roraima. The four-year-old by Bern Identity out of Classic Princess was put in front in the nine furlongs and 25 yards call by the smooth Ramon Nepare. Thereafter, Roraima skated away from rivals to win on the bounce by close to five lengths. Well done to trainer Keffin Murray. Roraima was the first of two winners for Nepare.
RACE EIGHT
Visibility was low with the on-duty announcer barely able to call the event due to persistent rainfall. Despite the rain and visibility issues, Xceptional Babz set both the regular and fixed odds tote boards alight, eventually starting at odds of 6-5. This for a horse, who finished a distant fifth in her last racing effort. Xceptional Babz raced for the most part in mid-pack before moving closer to the leader, while keeping close to the rails. In the last two furlongs, Xceptional Babz accelerated impressively to win by 7 ½ lengths. It was win number two for Nepare and number three in the fledging career of trainer Robert Ffrench.
RACE NINE
This Overnight five straight saw the speedsters Make Up Artist and Princsshootingstar clocking 45.2 seconds for the quarter mile, then surging through the slop came Curlin’s Affair in the final furlong to snatch the win by three parts of a length. The second win by the Nunes | Foster combination.
