Dejae's Boy
Dejae's Boy
RACE ONE – Rusty’s victory, his third win from 20 starts, was accomplished with equipment changes, both the blinkers and figure 8 on. Rusty was the first of four winners on the day for jockey Reyan Lewis.
RACE TWO – The third juvenile event of the 2022 season, saw the continuance of the dominance of the champion trainer. This time Nunes triumphed with Royal Ash, in another one-two finish as his other change and odds-one 1-9 favourite Volatility finishing second. Of special note, Royal Ash, a roan filly by Fearless Vision out of Greek Goddess, was bred by Elizabeth DaCosta, mother of trainer Jason DaCosta, Nunes’ main rival in the trainers’ championship. Win number two for jockey Reyan Lewis.
RACE THREE – A runaway win for Six Avenue trained by Rowan Mathie with the most used apprentice Roger Hewitt in the saddle.
RACE FOUR – Reyan Lewis achieved his third win when he piloted Party Princess to victory. It was a rare visit to the claiming ranks for winning trainer Ian Parsard.
RACE FIVE – This event turned out to be a romp for the Jason DaCosta-trained It’s All I with stable jockey Anthony Thomas holding the reins.
RACE SIX – A close finish in the driving rain saw JNR Jones prevailing by a neck over Run Jaya Run. A second win for jockey Roger Hewitt.
RACE SEVEN – With only two – non-winners of three in a non-four (three-year-olds), it was of little wonder that one of those two, the improving Morimoto was the victor. It was win number four for Morimoto from nine starts. Morimoto with this win became the second horse of this year-old crop to reach the Overnight level by virtue of wins accumulated and not by way of winning a Classic event. The first to do so was Emperorofthecats. Win number two for Nunes, and number four for jockey Reyan Lewis.
RACE EIGHTH – With the race track in sloppy condition after heavy showers of rain it was time for the predictable upset. That upset came from the Lawrence Freemantle-trained Justin Biden at odds of 24-1. This was Justin Biden’s maiden win from 14 starts.
RACE NINE – Champion trainer Anthony Nunes closed his triple with Rubyistheone, this time with Dick Cardenas aboard.
RACE TEN – A searing run along the inside rails brought victory for the Oneil ‘Sweetie Man’ Markland trained Dejae’s Boy with apprentice Nicholas Hibbert giving his best display in the saddle. For the future, watch The Good Witch and Super Duper in races to come.
