THE HORSES
The feature race which honours former (2010) Triple Crown winner Mark My Word, is set at the ninth on the card.
This nine furlongs and 25 yards contest has two horses entered, Calculus and Oneofakind who are sure to catch the attention of punters.
Calculus is this year’s Derby and St Leger winner, who was a complete no-show in his first attempt against older horses on September 25. Calculus is the only three-year-old in the field of seven runners, and he must put in a better run to solidify his heroics in the Classic races.
Oneofakind started his four-year career earlier this year with a bang winning four consecutive races. After his last win on June 19, he has been missing in action due to injuries. Oneofakind has rested for 119 days and still yet using back class he does have a good chance of enhancing his record to eight wins from 17 starts.
There are two newcomers on the 10-race programme; Prosecco (Fearless Vision – Zacapa) trained by Patrick Lynch and Reminicn Bolo (Berlino Di Tiger – Santa Baby) trained by Donovan Russell. Both these debutantes are listed in the fourth race which is a three-year-old maiden condition event going five furlongs straight.
The dam of Prosecco, Zacapa, has already produced Casual Drink and Rum With Me; while the mother of Reminicn Bolo, Santa Baby, has produced Derby winner Drone Strike, Sorrentino’s Star, and Riot Worthley.
THE JOCKEYS
After a break of approximately six months due to an injury jockey, Raddesh Roman returns to competitive race riding. Roman rides Carol Strike for trainer Lincoln Lungs in the first race and Diligent in the sixth also for Lungs.
Once again jockeys Anthony Thomas and Dick Cardenas dominate the list of riders with the most mounts on the day. Both Thomas and Cardenas are set to ride in seven races.
They are followed by Dane Dawkins and Javaniel Patterson with six mounts each. The in-form Robert Halledeen and leading apprentice Oshane Nugent have secured five rides each. It should be noted that Nugent no longer claims; he has lost his apprentice ‘bug’.
