THE RACES

It is Cash Pot Day at the races. This is when the two-year-olds come to the fore and all eyes will be on the Buzz Nightmare progeny Princsshootingstar. This filly trained by Philip Feanny excited when she made her race track appearance on August 3. Since then, Princsshootingstar has not raced. She was the only entry in the Princess Popstar Trophy about a month ago.

At exercise, Princsshootingstar has shown glimpses that she is special, but, as usual, the race has to be run, so let’s wait and see.

It should be a sprint blast in the ninth race – the Cash Pot Super Dash Trophy – when the fiercest sprinters around at this time face each other over the minimum round trip of five furlongs.

Who will lead, and will the leader win? The likes of Patriarch, Victory Turn, God of Love, Duke, and Father Patrick will answer those questions on Saturday.

THE TRAINERS

It is that time of year again when the trainers with the big barns start the process of replacing their stocks, with the least effective sent off to the claiming ranks. This is mainly to make way for yearlings coming in and just generally to clear stock.

Last weekend, trainer Jason DaCosta’s Fearless Champion was put in claiming and was duly claimed. On Saturday (October 30) trainer Anthony Nunes has placed his four-year-old chestnut filly Glock on a $550,000 tag in the first race. Look out as there will be more.

Nunes and Ryan Darby lead the way on the Saturday card with entries in five races each. They are followed by Gary Subratie with horses in four races. Leading trainer Jason DaCosta has entered horses in three races.

THE HORSES

Note that the horse with the most wins racing on the day is Chief Prospect in the second. This 10-year-old has raced 59 times and has won 18 times, which in any language is a good success rate.

Chief Prospect is followed by Storming in the first with 10 wins from 74 starts and Jamai Raja in the fourth with nine victories from 69 starts.
