KINGSTON, Jamaica – The second race on Sunday, January 15, 2023, honors the people offering their services on the backstretch of Caymanas Park.
The Backstretch Support Trophy is for three-year-old non-winners of two (locally bred horses) and a maiden for three and four-year-old foreigners.
The Quick Galloper’s assessment of this five-and-a-half furlong call is given below for the scrutiny of Quickgallop.com readers.
1 – COSMIC FORCE is a three-year-old bay colt (April 7) by Savoy Stomp out of Kipling Weekend trained by Philip Feanny with Delroy Beharie. His one outing to date gave no indication of anything significant and will be hard-pressed to deliver a win.
2 – REJECTED RAJA is a three-year-old bay colt (February 2) by Soul Warrior out of Palace Gold trained by Robert Pearson with Robert Halledeen in the saddle. He won on his debut, then was below par in his second, with Flyjetblue way ahead. Cannot be given a reasonable chance of winning. Note, Rejected Raja races with figure 8 on.
3 – BOX BOX (USA) is a three-year-old chestnut filly (March 9) by Shaman Ghost out of Jessica’s Is Back trained by Owen Sharpe with Jerome Innis aboard. Will continue to box around.
4 – SIZZLING SISTA K (USA) is a four-year-old bay filly by Bodemeister out of Mis Vizcaya trained by Gary Subratie with Raddesh Roman in the saddle. Try Sizzling Sista K in the exacta wager.
5 – FLYBLUEJET (USA) is a three-year-old dark bay filly (April 3) by Air Force Blue out of Perfectly Beautiful trained by Philip Feanny with Reyan Lewis aboard. Was close to the leaders in her first run on December 17, 2022, finishing third, a length behind Sistren Treasure and Is That A Fact. On Sunday, against watered-down opponents, Flybluejet is set to get off the mark.
