KINGSTON,  Jamaica - FOLLOWING Excessive Force's win in the $2.5-millon Port Royal Sprint on Saturday, November 12, 2022, trainer Philip Feanny said his charge will next race in the much-anticipated, ultra-rich Mouttet Mile set for December 3.

Ridden by Bebeto Harvey, Excessive Force came from far behind rivals to win the three-year-old and upward Open Allowance/Graded Stakes contest over 6 furlongs (1,200m) by a length and a quarter, going away in an impressive time of 1:12.1 and coming off a five-month break.

"It was an excellent ride from the jockey [Bebeto Harvey] aboard Excessive Force. He listened to instructions and obeyed it perfectly," Feanny told Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.

"What next? The Mouttet Mile," Feanny added.

Excessive Force was unable to go with the speedsters and settled among the backmarkers, watching Madelyn’s Sunshine (Anthony Thomas) set early fractions ahead of Duke (Robert Halledeen) and Curlin’s Affair, the mount of Christopher Mamdeen.

Madelyn’s Sunshine upped the tempo while navigating the half-mile (800m) while Excessive Force was still labouring among the backmarkers, although little improvement was made by the American-bred runner.

When it appeared that all was lost inside the final-furlong (200m) pole Harvey produced his mount for an effort and Excessive Force exploded like a cannon ball ignited and won ahead of rivals. Madelyn’s Sunshine finished second and El Profesor (Reyan Lewis) came home third.

"I knew we were going to win as soon as I passed the two-and-a-half-furlong marker. The horses were scattering out and they weren’t really going fast, and I had a lot of horses under me. Turning for home, I asked to run and he delivered," Harvey shared.
