The second race on Saturday, December 20, 2025, is the Miss Ruth Trophy.

This contest is a two-year-old Maiden Special Weight at six furlongs, with six juveniles entered.

Below is The Quick Galloper’s assessment of the likely outcome.

1 – BRILLIANT BOY

Brilliant Boy is a chestnut colt (April 29) by Bern Identity out of Mete-Orite, trained by Anthony Nunes with Raddesh Roman in the saddle. Mete-Orite has already produced Pizarro, Heat It Up, Mahogany, Daddy Jones, and Hickory Slim. A well-bred youngster making his debut, he has shown steady progress in morning drills. Clocked five furlongs on December 13 in 1:06.0. In a race that appears wide open, he deserves consideration.

2 – ABUDAR

Abudar is a bay colt (January 16) by Savoy Stomp out of Ship Sham, trained by Richard Azan with Ian Spence aboard. Ship Sham has produced Ship Ahoy and Princess Fianie. Another first-time starter who has been diligent in his exercise routines leading up to this race. His preparation suggests he should not be overlooked.

3 – ANOTHER QUALITY

Another Quality is a chestnut filly (May 8) by Sensational Slam out of Naturally Mystical, trained by Oral Hayden with Shane Ellis riding. Naturally Mystical has produced Charming Sound. Already has race experience, having debuted on November 16, though that effort showed she still has progress to make. Competes with blinkers removed, figure eight applied, and first-time Lasix.

4 – MOHANLAL

Mohanlal is a bay colt (April 7) by Casual Trick out of Raise Your Voice, trained by Richard Azan with Tajay Suckoo aboard. Raise Your Voice has produced Rohan Kabir and Whisky. Returned quickly (six days) after finishing second, 3 ¼ lengths behind Uncle Nally over four furlongs on December 14. With that solid run under his belt, Mohanlal looks primed for victory and is the leading choice.

5 – FLAWLESS MISSION

Flawless Mission is a bay filly (April 30) by Bern Identity out of Indian Bluff, trained by Oral Hayden with Javaniel Patterson up. Indian Bluff has produced Halls of Justice, Brinks, and Here Comes Doc. Another well-bred debutante who has been performing well in morning gallops. Expected to gain valuable experience from this first outing.

6 – FOR MY LOVE

For My Love is a bay filly (March 21) by Sensational Slam out of For Trixie, trained by Anthony Nunes with Aaron Chatrie aboard. For Trixie has produced Laban, Colorado Ranger, and Tuts. Made her debut on November 29, finishing fourth, five lengths behind Darwin. Since then, she has trained well and enters this race as a strong contender.

THE QUICK GALLOPER VERDICT

Winner: Mohanlal (#4) – Strong second last time, fit and ready to score.

Main Threat: For My Love (#6) – Promising debut, could challenge.

Dark Horse: Brilliant Boy (#1) – Well-bred newcomer, suggesting potential.

Others (Abudar, Another Quality) likely need more experience before featuring prominently.
