KINGSTON, Jamaica - Three-year-old bay maiden colt Affair trained by Gary Subratie with Reyan Lewis in the saddle, atoned for his previous insignificant efforts with a convincing victory in the second race on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

What followed afterward was the rarest of disqualifications, one not witnessed at Caymanas Park in living memory.

The disqualification also followed a jockey’s objection by Shamaree Muir, the rider of second by the post First Offense.

Then came the official announcement from the track announcer.

The jockey’s objection was overruled, but horse number one, Affair was disqualified for not finishing the race with all of the declared equipment. Affair was declared to race with the tongue tie, the cheekpieces, and Lasix.

While making the turn in the six-furlong contest, it was visible that what appeared to be a part of the cheek pieces fell off from Affair.

Based on that evidence, Affair was subsequently disqualified and placed off the board.

Quickgallopja.com shares with it readers Rule 113 -Section 9 of the Rules Of Racing: C-i  C-ii and C-iii.

  1. What about the dismal performance of the 1:9 favorite Captain Fantastic in this race ? Why wasn't the rider and trainer called to give an explanation? Punters are getting a sordid deal. One of these days they may regret what they're doing.

    1. Respond to what, the horse didn't make himself 1-9. Nor can he read the tote board. He just flopped.

  2. The subject is not the odds. 'In and Out ' running is a regular event in racing. Good horses don't ' just flop'. There must be an explanation for the performance.

    1. BWOY..THE ANSWER MIGHT BE THE HORSE HAD A HEADACHE OR TOOTH ACHE..ANYONE OF THEM IT CAN HAPPEN..NOT LUDICROUS

  3. Maybe captain fantastic just isn’t that fantastic after all. Thats the only race I didn’t hav the winner because I fell for it too. Killed all my wagers. Neva again .
