KINGSTON, Jamaica - The Supreme Ventures Limited-sponsored Two-Year-Old Triple Crown series gets underway tomorrow with the running of the Grade 111 Cash Pot “Only One For Me” Trophy going six furlongs (1,200m).
The race is a Graded Stakes event for native-bred two-year-olds carrying a purse of a whopping $3.25 million. The race has attracted a small but talented field of six runners that includes the powerful Wow Wow from the barn of Gary Subratie.
Below is the analysis of each runner and their chances of taking home the first leg of the series.
- WOW WOW: (2-y-o b c – Casual Trick – Sarah Barracuda) – Romped home to his fourth-consecutive victory when winning the 13th running of the $2 million Konka Energy Drink Juvenile Sprint over six-and-a-half furlongs (1,300m) on October 5. Wow Wow led in a dominating 12 ¾ lengths in a time of 1:19.0, beating Tomohawk and Cash Is King. Wow Wow’s performance was something to behold especially in the way he accelerated in the lane suggesting that he much more than ordinary. Wow Wow is a secured banker.
- VERSATILE VISION: (2-y-o b f – Fearless Vision – Chintagooda) – The only maiden in the race. While Versatile Vision has some ability, she is going to have a difficult task getting by Wow Wow.
- MONEY MONSTER: (2-y-o b c – Casual Trick – She’s Traditional) – After finishing a length-and-a-quarter behind Cash Is King on debut on September 14 in a four-furlong (800m) event, Money Monster returned to the races two weeks later and put rivals in their place in a five-furlong (1,000m) round event on September 28. Money Monster came off the pace to beat rivals by a comfortable 1 ¾ lengths in a time of 1:01.1. That run suggested that he is of some note and will not be disgraced.
- CASH IS KING: (2-y-o ch c – Liquidity – Abicadabby) – Made an impressive debut on September when winning by 1 ¼ lengths in a maiden special weight over four furlongs (800m) in a time of 48.3 seconds. Cash Is King then faced Wow Wow in the Juvenile Sprint over 6 ½ furlongs on October 5 and was beaten into third place. There is still more room for improvement and Cash Is King should be once again on the premises.
- TOMOHAWK: (2-y-o b c – Natural Selection – Preach Preacher) – A full-brother to Drummer Boy who was second behind Wow Wow in the Juvenile Sprint on October 5. Tomohwak has shown some improvement and should follow home Wow Wow home again.
- ANOTHER COMMANDER: (2-y-o ch g - Sensational Slam – Diamond Princess) – Was a winner on last when producing a gate-to-wire run to defeat rivals going six furlongs (1,200m) on a sloppy racing surface after a heavy downpour. Another Commander won by 5 ¾ lengths in a time of 1:15.0. He will have to improve a lot if he is to find a place here.
