The feature race on the well-supported card of Sunday, September 28, 2025, is the annual renewal of the Typewriter Trophy.
This year’s Typewriter Trophy is a competitive contest for three-year-old and upward horses at the Overnight Allowance level, travelling 7 ½ furlongs.
Twelve runners are entered, with The Quick Galloper’s analysis provided below.
1 – INTERESTNTIMESAHEAD
Returns to the Overnight Allowance level after two unsuccessful attempts in the higher ranks, and carries the top impost of 126 lb. Interestntimesahead is no stranger to this class, having previously won at 7 furlongs. His morning workouts have been sharp, suggesting readiness and intent. With tactical speed and proven stamina, he must be considered a leading contender.
2 – UNSPUN
Faced Mojito on September 14 over the extended trip of 9 furlongs and 25 yards, and found the distance taxing. Now returns to a more suitable journey, where his turn of foot can be better utilized. Unspun has shown flashes of class and, under the right pace scenario, could be a decisive factor in the outcome of the Typewriter Trophy.
3 – RAINVILLE
A consistent campaigner at this level, though without a win in recent outings. Rainville often runs honest races but lacks the finishing punch to dominate. His best chance lies in securing a minor placing, especially if the leaders falter late.
4 – I DREAM AGAIN
The reigning Derby winner steps out of age-restricted company for the first time. After a well-earned break following his three-year-old triumphs, I Dream Again re-emerges in a new phase of his career. While his class is undeniable, punters may wish to observe his transition before committing fully. A watch-and-learn approach is advised.
5 – PROVIDENT
Still acclimating to the demands of Overnight Allowance. Finished third eight days ago over 6 ½ furlongs, showing late interest. The added half-furlong of the Typewriter Trophy could play to his strengths, but against seasoned rivals, Provident must elevate his game to be truly competitive.
6 – POWER FROM ABOVE
Struggled to make an impact in recent efforts and appears outmatched at this level. The removal of the tongue tie signals a change in equipment, but it’s unlikely to reverse his fortunes. Power From Above is best watched for future improvement.
7 – PROPELLANT
A newcomer to the Overnight rank, Propellant brings form but will need time to adjust to new surroundings and competition. While his back class may eventually shine through, this initial outing is likely to be educational.
8 – MR SENATOR
A veteran of the Overnight circuit whose performances have plateaued. Mr Senator’s best hope lies in picking up a minor placing if the race unfolds in his favour. He remains a longshot for the win.
9 – HERE COME DOC
Drops back into Overnight Allowance after a subdued showing in the top claiming bracket. His recent form offers little encouragement, and he can be safely ruled out of serious winning consideration.
10 – ALLEGIANCE
A fixture in Overnight Allowance who has yet to deliver a breakthrough performance. Allegiance runs honest races but lacks the spark to threaten for top honours. A placing is the ceiling of his current form.
11 – NEO STAR
Has spent much of the season facing top-tier rivals, including a recent return to Overnight on September 14, where he finished behind Mojito and Unspun. Neo Star’s primary weapon is his early speed, which, if deployed wisely, could see him steal a march on the field. He commands respect and could be the surprise package.
12 – OIL MACHINE
Graduates from the conditional ranks after fulfilling his requirements. Now enters the deeper waters of Overnight Allowance, where the learning curve steepens. Oil Machine has shown promise, but this assignment will test his mettle. A watching brief is recommended.
THE QUICK GALLOPER’S VERDICT
The 2025 renewal of the Typewriter Trophy presents a layered contest with a blend of seasoned campaigners, rising contenders, and newcomers testing the Overnight waters. Among the twelve entered, Interestntimesahead has to be respected.
Unspun, returning to a more suitable trip, looms as a serious threat if the pace aligns with his strengths. Neo Star, with his early dash and class-tested credentials, could steal the show if allowed to dictate terms. I Dream Again, the Derby winner, brings intrigue but must first prove his mettle against older rivals.
