KINGSTON, Jamaica - A beaming Tainiya Kerr stood in the winners’ enclosure alongside her pride and joy, a bay horse named Another Bullet, who won the 32nd running of the $3-million LASCO Food Drink Caribbean Sprint Championship on Saturday.

Another Bullet (Nasheet – Wisely Noted), with Shane Ellis in the saddle, won the six furlongs (1,200m) event by 1 ¾ lengths in a time of 1:12.2 minutes, leaving Kerr as one of the happiest people on earth. Another Bullet is trained by Patrick Lynch.

“I am so overwhelmed right now. I mean, I didn’t expect him to do so well right now because he had a little complication (bolted) at the Lasix barn earlier and so it was just awesome to see him go out there and do such a big run. His performance has been always good and this one was no exception. I can't complain. I am just happy right now,” Kerr offered.

“Another Bullet has been very impressive so far this season. Three previous wins other than today (Saturday) and three seconds to the brilliant She's A Maneater, and I mean, you can’t ask for anything more. Plus, we have defeated her (She’s A Maneater) earlier in the season in the Lady Geeta Trophy and so I can’t ask him to do anything more than to be himself. Next for him now is the Diamond Mile and so let’s see how that works out,” she added.

Kerr, who started her career as an owner 10 years ago, shared how she got into the racing industry.

“I started my career as an owner in 2009. I got involved in the sport through my uncle Steve Powell. My uncle was a groom at the race track and so that was how I got involved in racing. He used to work at Jose Pinchin’s stables and after a couple of times at the track and being around the horses, I fell in love with the sport and decided to venture into the industry.

“My first winner was with a horse by the name of Quiet Knight, trained by Patrick Lynch. The feeling was good. The feeling was great and it was also awesome winning my first race as a female in the business. It is always good when you see your horses coming first in a race.

“The best horse that I have owned is Another Bullet. Another Bullet has been performing so well over the years. He has won so many great races and he is a fighter as well. His performances in the 2019 Lady Geeta Trophy and the Caribbean Sprint were just very good. I have had some good horses but I give the edge to Another Bullet,” Kerr shared.
