THE VICEROY TROPHY – MONDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2025

Open Allowance – Three-Year-Olds and Up – One Mile

The seventh race on Monday’s card at Caymanas Park pays tribute to The Viceroy, a titan of Jamaican racing whose dominance and consistency earned him a permanent place in the sport’s pantheon.

The Viceroy Trophy, fittingly contested over a mile, has drawn six starters.

1 – MAMMA MIA

Returned to Overnight Allowance company on October 11 and made light work of her rivals, cruising to a three-length victory over six furlongs. Mamma Mia is a seasoned campaigner who thrives on rhythm and resilience. With little early pace among her opponents, she’s likely to assume front-running duties. The stretch to a mile is within her scope, and if left alone on the lead, she could prove difficult to reel in.

2 – TIGERAMEDAT

His role appears limited to rounding out the numbers.

3 – MAJOR DANGER

This foreign-bred gelding has lingered at the Overnight level without making a meaningful impact. He’s not raced beyond 6½ furlongs in his last eight starts, making Monday’s mile assignment a steep climb. The fact that he’s currently listed for sale suggests connections are looking elsewhere. Unless something dramatic changes, Major Danger is unlikely to threaten.

4 – TIZ TOK

Ran a credible fifth in the prestigious Gold Cup over seven furlongs, finishing seven lengths behind Legacy Isle. Tiz Tok is a late closer who tends to find his best stride in the final two furlongs. The added distance on Monday suits him, and with expected pace from Mamma Mia, Major Danger, and possibly Supernatural Power, the race could unfold to his liking. A strong showing here is essential if he hopes to secure a berth in the Mouttet Mile come December.

5 – SUPERNATURAL POWER

This talented three-year-old filly showed grit in the Gold Cup, rallying from a tardy start to finish fourth. Her trainer has opted to reapply the visor, a move that could sharpen her early focus. Though she’s yet to race beyond seven furlongs, Supernatural Power has shown adaptability and class. If she breaks cleanly and settles early, she has the tools to beat these  rivals.

6 – INSPIRE FORCE Has struggled to find form in recent outings and enters this race with little momentum. No significant changes are noted, and expectations remain modest.

THE QUICK GALLOPER’S VERDICT

Mamma Mia could control the tempo, but the stretch to a mile may expose her. Tiz Tok and Supernatural Power are the most likely to capitalize, both possess closing power and recent form. With the visor back on and a strong Gold Cup effort behind her, SUPERNATURAL POWER gets the nod to claim this tribute race
