The second of ten races on Saturday, July 5, 2025, features a competitive six-furlong sprint for native-bred three- and four-year-olds (non-winners of four) and imported three- and four-year-olds (non-winners of three).
A compact field of six is set to face the starter, with The Quick Galloper offering insights below in post-position order.
1 – ANOTHER ONE: A true front-runner who knows only one gear—fast. While this three-year-old has shown early speed, he’s struggled to sustain it over six furlongs. With the pace likely to be hot, Another One may find himself outgunned late. A minor placing is his best hope.
2 – SUPERNATURAL POWER: Already a standout among the imported three-year-olds, this filly boasts two wins from four starts. Though she’s been bested twice by the formidable Incredible Jo, connections have made key equipment changes—adding both visor and figure eight. Expect a sharper, more focused effort. She’s well-positioned to bounce back into the winner’s enclosure.
3 – LINGUIST: Fresh off a gutsy runner-up finish in the 1000 Guineas behind Burning Hedge, Linguist has been withdrawn from the St Leger, signaling a clear focus on the 10-furlong Jamaica Oaks. Her morning workouts have been sharp, but this sprint may serve more as a prep than a peak performance.
4 – RICHES TO RAGS: With 22 starts and little to show, this veteran continues to struggle at this level. Likely entered to support stablemate Supernatural Power, she’s not expected to factor in the outcome.
5 – BOWMORE: This steadily improving US-bred has been knocking on the door with four solid runs. Though still learning, Bowmore is edging closer to his second win. A strong showing here would not surprise.
6 – DANKA: Skipped the 1000 Guineas and returned just a week later to notch her second win. While talented, this might be a touch too soon for her to land a third. She remains one to watch for future engagements.
With tactical changes and a touch of class, Supernatural Power looks ready to reclaim her winning form.
