Straight gladiators Nuclear Flight, Peking Cruz clash on mid-week 10-race card

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Probably the two leading sprinters over the five straight course clash in race nine, an Open Allowance event which is the highest rated event on the mid-week 10-race card at Caymanas Park tomorrow (Wednesday, February 13).
Peking Cruz and Nuclear Flight who have both fashioned their careers coming down the straight meet to prove who is the best.
Peking Cruz (Traditional – Patty Girl) trained by Richard Azan left us last year with good form including winning twice over the five-straight course. His last race was on January 19, 2019 when he finished third behind stablemate Money Magnet and the reigning sprint champion Chace The Great again over the five straight. For tomorrow’s race, Peking Cruz is down in class and therefore carries the weight.
Peking Cruz allows a lot of weight to K D Flyer, another who loves coming down the straight but the class of Peking Cruz should prevail in the end.

His only problem might be the number one draw but we have been seeing in recent times that more and more horses are winning five straight races from inside draws. Usually the five straight favours horses drawn on the outside but the number one draw should not be an inhibiting factor for Peking Cruz as there are only seven horses in the field.
Having received his prep, Peking Cruz is fighting fit for this one.
Nuclear Flight even more so than Peking Cruz is a creature of the five straight. This four-year-old dark bay filly by Nuclear Wayne – City Flight enters this mid-week contest with a career record of five wins, and three second place finishes from eight starts with four of her five wins coming down the straight.
This is a classy filly, who is now ready to show her undeniable class plus her trainer Gary Subratie is in superb form at the moment.
Old stager Campesino and newcomer to the class K D Flyer will both be around if Peking Cruz or Nuclear Flight should falter.
Of the others, Pakman, Exhilarate, and Birdie My Love, they will simply have to wait their turn at this level.
