It took Starraura ten starts to secure her fourth career victory, achieved on Saturday, April 18, 2026, in a native-bred four-year-old and up non-four, and a four-year-old and non-three for foreigners, contested over five furlongs straight.
The chestnut filly, by Bold Conquest out of Little Wasp, trained by champion Jason DaCosta and ridden by Jaheim Anderson, broke sharply from the outside and quickly assumed control. She maintained a commanding advantage throughout, crossing the finish six lengths clear of Thousand Treasures under Emelio McLean, with Danka and Dane Dawkins settling for third. The fractions were 23.3 and 46.4, with a final time of 59.3 seconds.
This victory marked her fourth overall, three of which have come in 2026, placing her among the select group of 2025 three-year-olds who have completed their age-group conditions and now advance to the Overnight Allowance ranks. That list includes Mighty Gully, Another One, Don Kwesi, and Mark My Identity, among others. The key question now is how Starraura will adapt to the higher level of competition.
Her record shows versatility, with wins ranging from five furlongs straight to 7½ furlongs. However, her performances suggest she is most effective between five and seven furlongs, particularly when allowed to dictate terms early. The challenge at Overnight Allowance will be facing rivals with proven class and greater tactical depth, where early speed alone may not suffice.
Looking ahead, her connections will need to carefully place her to maximize her strengths. Races at five and six furlongs appear most suitable, where her natural pace can be used to full effect. Success at this level will depend on whether she can sustain her dominance against seasoned opponents who are accustomed to faster closing fractions and more demanding race dynamics.
If she continues to progress and adapt, Starraura has the potential to establish herself as a consistent performer in the Overnight Allowance grouping. Her next few outings will provide the clearest indication of whether she can transition from a promising filly into a reliable contender at this higher grade.
