In a sharp departure from his usual style, Stardom, with Dane Dawkins in the irons for trainer Gary Subratie, raced much closer to the early pace.
Eye of the Tiger wasted no time taking the lead, while Stardom kept a watchful eye right behind him down the backstretch.
Rounding the turn, Stardom made a decisive move, surging past the leader to swing into the home straight with the advantage.
Dawkins then had to draw on all his strength to fend off a late charge from I Love Birdie (Reyan Lewis), holding on to win by three-quarters of a length—a well-earned moment of redemption.
