KINGSTON, Jamaica – The ninth race on Saturday, May 27, 2023, is an Open Allowance contest going five furlongs round, in which eight horses are entered.

The horse is named after former top-notch campaigner Harlequin.

The Quick Galloper’s assessment is provided below.

1 - MADELYN’S SUNSHINE: – is rounding into form at the right time. Madelyn’s Sunshine was beaten into second place by 3 ¼ lengths by stablemate She’s My Destiny in the Lady Geeta Trophy on May 6. Madelyn’s Sunshine is expected to be hot on the lead, but it will not be an easy task to maintain any early advantage. The best Madelyn’s Sunshine can hope for is a top-four finish.

2 - PRESS CONFERENCE: – has surprised all by weaving his way to Open Allowance. Press Conference has always done well over the straight and could make his presence felt here.

3 - RUNAWAY ALGO: - easily defeated rivals by 13 ½ lengths in the Seeking My Dream Trophy seven days ago over 7 ½ furlongs (1,500m) in a decent time of 1:30.4. Runaway Algo given his obvious class will win this one on a canter.

4 – YELLOWSTONE: – cannot manage these as yet.

5 - DUKE: - loves the five straight, and should be the main rival to Runaway Algo.

6 - LABAN: - returns from a long break against some tuned rivals. Will not figure on Saturday.

7 - EMPEROROFTHECATS: - has raced two times over the straight and has won both times. Emperorofthecats has speed and should be prominent for the first two to three furlongs. He will find it difficult against these.

8 - GOD OF LOVE: - can stay with the early pace and deliver a challenge late on but will have to hold for a minor place.
