The crowd at Caymanas Park barely had time to settle before Sir Don once again announced himself as something special.

With Raddesh Roman perched confidently in the saddle, the young colt surged forward, his stride long and effortless. By the time the field hit the stretch, the contest was no longer about who would win — it was about how far behind the others would finish. Sixteen and a quarter lengths. That was the margin. His clocking of 1:26.1 over seven furlongs wasn’t just fast, it was emphatic.

Anthony Nunes, the man guiding this rising star, wasn’t surprised, but he was deliberate in his approach.

“I wasn’t necessarily worried, but we really trained him lightly for the race. We were just hoping that he would use his class and stay the seven furlongs and he did that which was nice,” Nunes explained.

The victory, Sir Don’s third in as many starts, leaves Nunes with decisions to make.

“We will see how he comes out of this race. There’s maybe one opportunity left for him in December and if not, we will put him up till next year,” he said.

For Nunes, the colt’s brilliance is undeniable, but the bigger picture is about patience.

“He is talented. Obviously, he is not running against anybody of his ability yet and I am sure that will come as there are some good horses out there that haven’t raced yet. He will certainly get his test in time but the most important thing is we want him to stay healthy and sound.”

Sir Don broke sharply, seized the lead, and toyed with his rivals down the backstretch. Midnight Traveller, God’s Plan, and Salute The Don tried to keep pace, but when Roman loosened the reins in the final furlong, Sir Don shifted gears and disappeared into the distance.

Salute The Don managed second, Fernando took third.
