The Prince’s Spur left little doubt about the outcome of teh Typewriter Trophy, powering to a 14-length victory in the feature at Caymanas Park on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

The seven-year-old American-bred gelding, trained by Rohan Crichton and ridden by Raddesh Roman, took the lead soon after the start. Mohanlal and Purosangue tracked him early, but neither could stay with the pace as The Prince’s Spur began to separate from the field on the backstretch.

His decisive move came around the five-furlong mark. The leader accelerated sharply and quickly opened a gap, leaving the rest of the field to chase a race that was already slipping away. Roman remained composed as his mount extended the margin from five lengths to 10 and then 14, reaching the finish at an easy gallop.

Cookie Day N Night, ridden by Emelio McLean, secured second place. Mohanlal, with Jaheim Anderson aboard, finished third. Purosangue, partnered by Robert Halledeen, had been among the early pursuers.

The winner covered seven and a half furlongs in 1:30.1. The recorded fractions were 23.2, 45.3, 1:10.3 and 1:23.2.

Eric Haughton supplied two of the day’s nine winners. He won the second race on Silent Cat, trained by Davidan Robinson, and returned to the winner’s enclosure after the sixth aboard Hoofy Dee, trained by Donwell Dawes.
