KINGSTON, Jamaica - She's My Destiny returned and spanked rivals in the second staging of the $1.5-million St Elizabeth Distaff over one mile (1,600 m) on Saturday, November 12, 2022, after finishing unplaced in the recent Gold Cup run over 7 furlongs (1,400 m) on October 22.

Bred by Bern Identity out of the Traditional mare Woman Is Boss, She’s My Destiny won the three-year-old and upward Overnight Allowance contest by an ever-increasing 7 ¼ lengths in a new Stakes record time of 1:37.3.  She’s My Destiny erased the previous mark of 1:38.4 done by stablemate Make Up Artist.

Ridden by former six-time champion jockey Omar Walker, She’s My Destiny was held off the pace in the early exchanges as she raced in third place behind Make Up Artist (Anthony Thomas) and Alexa’s Dream (Raddesh Roman) down the backstretch.

She’s My Destiny, running the inside rails, slipped down into second place behind Make Up Artist going into the half-mile (800m) turn before challenging for the lead approaching the distance. She’s My Destiny hit the front full of running at the top of the lane and went on to score the biggest win of her 13-race career.

Make Up Artist did well to finish in second place, with Lure of Lucy (Robert Halledeen) finishing third, completing a one-two-three finish for trainer Jason DaCosta.

"It was a very good performance by She’s My Destiny to win the St Elizabeth Distaff, and I am very happy with the result. We have been working with her in the mornings to be relaxed and rated in her races, and she has done so, so I am very happy.

"Right now, she is at her best, and there are some big races to come later in the year, so we are going to see how she comes out of this race and then look at our options," DaCosta said.
