KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Robert Halledeen started to enjoy Christmas two days before December 25, when he closed a triple on the day aboard the Patrick Lynch trained High Diplomacy in the Caymanas Thursday (December 23) nightcap.
Earlier in the day, Halledeen won on Paraiso and Legality for champion trainer Anthony Nunes. Interestingly, Halledeen by virtue of his three wins has joined champion and leading jockey Anthony Thomas on 21 wins each in the Quarterly Championship. Thomas was winless on the day. The jockey with the most wins in the Quarterly Championship receives a prize payment of $150,000.
Halledeen had to dig deep in his strength reserves to defeat the persistent SenCity (Reyan Lewis) on the inside rails. Long-time leader Sweet N Smart (Tevin Foster) ended in the third slot.
