Anthony Nunes blows open trainers’ race, cuts deficit to under $800,000 after natural hattrick

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Legality (Robert Halledeen) completed a natural hattrick of wins by champion trainer Anthony Nunes in the Caymanas Thursday fourth to blow the race for the championship with his main competitor Jason DaCosta wide open.

After wins in the second by Paraiso earning $475,000; He Can Dance in the third - $376, 750, and Legality in the fourth earning $409,500, Nunes on the day (Thursday, December 23, 2021) has earned a total of $1,261,250 ($475,000 + $375,750 + $409,500). DaCosta’s Uncle Frank finished fourth in the fourth race to earn $34,100.

Therefore, after four races, the difference between the two trainers on the day stands at $1,227,150 ($1,261,250 – 34,100). The overall lead held by DaCosta, who started the day in front of Nunes by $1,951,845, has now been cut down to approximately $724,695.

Legality’s victory came in a three-year-old and upwards claiming contest ($750,000 - $600,000) going a mile.

Second was Inspired Miracle (Javaniel Patterson) with third going to Biblical Legend (Ramon Nepare).

This was the second winner on the day for Halledeen.
