Division Two of the non-restricted Overnight Allowance event over 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight should be as competitive as the first division with at least half the second entrants having a good chance of winning.
Below is an assessment of the nine starters.
SERGEANT RECKLESS: (4-y-o dkb f - Storm Craft – Code Star) — Has been running well of late and was rewarded with a win over the distance on August 31. Sergeant Reckless defeated Capturemyship by 2 lengths in a time of 1:00.1. However, if she is to repeat, Sergeant Reckless has to improve a lot, but the number one draw is a major negative factor against her.
CAMPESINO: (9-y-o b g - Compadre – Yaella) — Came off a six-month break and finished in last position in a 5 furlong round event won by Another Vigorous. Campesino has some issues but should give a reasonable effort. If he is to win, Campesino will have to hit the replay button to former days when he was among the best racers on offer.
RAS EMANUEL: (7-y-o b h - Burning Marque – Pleasant Princess) — A consistent sort who seldom runs a bad race. Ras Emanuel has raced four times this season, holding one win with two-second place finishes and a third. Ras Emanuel is not averse to the straight with two wins from nine starts at the distance. Based on performances this season, Ras Emanuel looks the right choice, but he has to be on top of his game if he is to secure victory in this one.
SECRET TRAVELLER: (5-y-o b g - Traditional – Sea Traveller) — Secret Traveller has been struggling for form and should once again be in the ruck.
PRINCESS EMANUELLE: (6-y-o ch m - Traditional – Explosive Peak) — Has been struggling for her form in recent times, but is speedy and if in the right frame of mind can cause anxious moments in the early exchanges of the race.
ARMAGEDDON: (5-y-o dkb h - Nuclear Wayne – Bonsai) — Not doing badly in his races and is quite effective over the straight where he does most of his running. Armageddon, has won three times at the distance from eight starts and has a live shot of winning.
CORAZON: (3-y-o b f - Blue Pepsi Lodge – My Heartbeat) – After finishing in eighth in the 1000 Guineas, Corazon has been missing from action but returns fresh and well-trained for this encounter. Corazon can sprint as well as go long and despite the need for a run, she could do surprisingly well and earn a spot on the board.
MY SISTER: (4-y-o rn f - Taqarub – Lady MacBeth) — Has been holding her own since coming to this level. My Sister goes well over the straight and a good effort is expected from her.
HONEY RYDA: (4-y-o ch f - Adore The Gold – Kathythetraina) — The best-drawn in the line-up at post nine. Honey Ryda has the class and talent to win despite her last three races being disappointing runs. Might not be as effective at the distance compared with the round but Honey Ryda is certainly going to be in pickings throughout.
