In the wake of the Hurricane Melissa, the promoters of horse racing in Jamaica, Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL) has announced a suspension of all live racing activities until further notice. The decision was made to prioritize safety and recovery efforts.
However, some off-track betting parlours have reopened and are currently conducting betting on simulcast racing from international tracks. This move allows punters to stay engaged while supporting the industry during this difficult time.
A news release from SVREL stated in part: “It’s a small step toward normalcy. We’re doing what we can to keep the spirit of racing alive while we rebuild.”
